Vishnu Potluri

Assistant Professor of Medicine (Renal-Electrolyte and Hypertension) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania

Vishnu Potluri, MD, MPH is a transplant epidemiologist with strong interest in applying novel analytical methods to transplant's hardest problems, including the optimization of organ allocation and preventing post-transplant infections. He received his medical degree from PSI Medical College in India in 2010 and his Masters in Public Health from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. During his fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania, he developed an interest in transplantation, won 1st place in the NKF annual meeting fellows research competition, received the Holmes award for research from the Department of Medicine, and won a humanism award from the Renal Division. His recent research revealing much higher than anticipated risks of post transplant lymphoproliferative disorders associated with EBV donor+/recipient-negative transplants (published in the Annals of Internal Medicine and AJT) is likely to change clinical practice. He is also applying geospatial methods to understand how to refine organ procurement and allocation in the US. His research has been supported by the National Kidney Foundation, the Gift of Life Foundation as well as K and R grants from the NIH.
